After prepping to provide alternative commentary on the recent wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton on ABC 2, The Chaser were informed only a couple of days before the big day that they would not be permitted, on pain of ABC losing all rights to coverage. Of course, they'd already put together and filmed several skits, and you can view them here.
Thanks to Dale for being the first to link this to me.
Man I really love this. I just wish it was available to buy now rather than just pre-order.
An example of some of the text:
The cats nestle close to their kittens now.
The lambs have laid down with the sheep.
You're cozy and warm in your bed, my dear
Please go the fuck to sleep.
Reminds me a lot of Lullaby by Tim Minchin.
So last night 66% of Wrongtown went to The Ellington Jazz Club to see a friend play, and were pretty damn impressed by Shenzo. Very entertaining in person, even
Apparently while The Ellington
does feature an intimate environment
with a selection of food and beverages
available, it doesn't feature a ceiling
capable of suspending a grown man
while he flings himself about.without doing backflips through the air.
This old Kids In The Hall video isn't exactly punchy but it still raises a chuckle. Especially the look on the face of young Timothy Foo...
Okay fine, the crucifixion machine is a cheap laugh, but a good one.
Some of you might have read the XKCD strip Heaven. Well here it is in all it's glory, Tetris Heaven.
Up Arrow: - Rotates Piece
Left Arrow - Move Piece Left
Right Arrow - Move Piece Right
Down Arrow - Move Piece Down Faster
Spacebar - "Soft Drop" that gives you a 'beat' to reposition (so if you want to drop it and set it, hit space twice).

Just for those who were scarred by the big scary Easter Bunny videos, here we have some kittens climbing into bowls. I have no idea what the presenters are saying, or why they would have an entire segment where they took the lids of bowls to let kittens make their home in them. I just know that even I'm lactating a little bit.
Kids Who Are Scared Of The Easter Bunny Funny. Cute. Wrong. Time-thief. Video. I found this at Boing Boing.
Over at dangerousminds.net they've got a great little collection of videos of kids who are scared shitless of the Easter Bunny. Go check them out, there's definitely some quality schadenfreude to be had.
Adam Winnik, studying illustration at Sheridan College, always says that thought that the writings of Carl Sagan were something like poetry. In keeping with this, he chose it as the subject of his thesis, providing animation to go with the prose.
Well worth taking 4 minutes out to watch this, especially if you think science can only be a cold, unromantic pursuit.
I love it when parents are darkly honest about their feelings for their kids. This song by Tim Minchin does a great job of expressing the feeling of frustration I imagine one experiences when ones progeny refuses to sleep for no detectable reason.
I have seen this before, hell we've all seen it. Never before though has someone documented the behaviour of The Douche in a bite-sized segment that so readily sums up this often misunderstood creature.
There isn't a whole lot to say about this. If you haven't seen it before... well, now you have. It could very well change your life... Or not. I'm a big fan of the meowing section though, it's catchy.
To quote Cassie "This is going to be in my head for the rest of my life"
I took some time out from browsing photographs of my "Attractive Women" category of friends and watching for changes in relationship status to check out this video by SomeGreyBloke on youtube. Now I'm stuck on a youtube video binge, I recommend you check out Jesus & Me, RE: Jesus Loves You, Gym Membership, 352 Men 1 Cup, What Twitter Is For...
Oh just go watch them all.
Unless you hate dry, underplayed monologues, in which case you'll hate it.
This is a small penguin. His name is Cookie. He has a tickly tummy. He likes people to make tickles on his stomach. He is a little bit cute.
This is just great... there I said it. I think that the crazy, 8 minute from start to finish rube goldberg-style lego machine is great. I'm not even ashamed.
Shatners New Albumn - Searching For Major Tom - Tracklist Announced Geeky. Old-school. I found this at Boing Boing.
So William Shatner has an album due out later this year on the Cleopatra Records label, and apparently the track listing has just been announced. I know a certain lead singer who is going to be excited...
I don't want to just quote the best ones at you, so go check out Out Of Context Science and watch the day wear away. It's great that every quote links to the article that it comes from.
There is a reasonable amount of love in me for this little clip, mashing up Shaun of the Dead & Scott Pilgrim Vs The World in only 60 seconds. At the same time they manage to throw in references to previous works like Hot Fuzz and Spaced.
It's not the first time someone has put together a LEGO Creation based on the works of HP Lovecraft, and I'm sure it won't be the last. At least I hope not.
I love that they've gone to the trouble of putting a little storyline alongside it.
So apparently this 15 month old kid got served a margarita instead of applejuice last Friday. I love this little excerpt:
"...kind of laid his head on the table and dozed off a little bit and woke up and got real happy."
The little boy reportedly began hailing strangers, too.
I have these visions of the kid yelling at people "Hey! Yeah you! What is that a dress or a belt? Get over here!"
This video pops up every 6 months or so, and I love it. It appears to be some sort of variety show, where in this case the guests have set up a Rube Goldberg-esqe contraption to prepare noodles.
Whenever someone uses a bowling ball moving at reasonable speed in one of these things I get a little nervous, and a little excited, but so far I haven't seen one bust loose.
Thanks to Lewis for bringing this one back for me.
So after the relatively unknown bassist/vocalist Esperanza Spalding won the Best New Artist Grammy, it would appear that people who opined that Justin Bieber should've got it made that clear by going nuts on her Wikipedia page.
I guess hell hath no fury like a pre-teen scorned huh?
When I spotted this yesterday on Kickstarter I thought to myself "Yup, there's no way that's not getting funded". It didn't take long at all for the proposition to build a statue of Robocop in Detroit to get the funding it needs, just goes to show you can get all kinds of crazy shit done when you capture the imagination of the geeks.
Thanks to Eric for pointing out just how quickly this took off.
No-one could accuse them of false advertising over at Chicks With Steve Buscemi Eyes, that's exactly what you get. Some of them are more alarming than others... some of them don't look too out of place at all.
Thanks to Mr Fish for this one.
Don't tell Insane Clown Posse about the research this guy is doing on magnets and their effect on the human brain, they don't wanna talk to no scientist.
Interesting that apparently we use a different side of our brain to sing than to talk, but that explains a few "singers" I've known...
I really like this post by Austin Kleon. He talks about his process as an artist, side projects, getting your work out, originality... well a bunch of things really.
I really like his recounting of his favourite scene in Just Kids by Patti Smith.
Storm by Tim Minchin Animated Version Finally Finished Funny. Science. Cute. Religion. Time-thief. Video.
Finally it's here! I've been looking forward to this since I first caught wind of it. In the words of Darth Vader, Yippee!
Blast From The Past - The Little Old Lady Who Couldn't Funny. Wrong. Old-school. Video. I found this at Boing Boing.
Well isn't she a polite old thing? Just goes to show even 35 years ago people assumed they were entitled to a licence.
I know a fair few regulars who'll get a kick out of this. Looks to be quite shortly after writing Grew On Me, back in 2005, when he was still tossing up about his "creepy-uppy kind of love" intro spiel.
Thanks to Mat Lane for this one.
The new Foo Fighters albumn has leaked, and apparently their reaction was to provide a FREE high quality stream on their website. Sweeeeet!
Sticking with impressive feats of percussive tunefulness, check out this guy playing covers on a home-made intrument created out of PVC. He makes his way through:
Grenade (0:02) Rugrats Theme (0:53) Carry On My Wayward Son (1:08)
Axel F (1:21) I Just Can't Wait To Be King (1:33) Sweet Child O' Mine (2:10)
Viva La Vida (2:23) Billy Jean (2:36) Like a Virgin (2:47) Final Countdown (3:04)
Crazy Train (3:24) James Bond Theme (3:57) The Pink Panther (4:16)
Teenage Dream (4:36) Poker Face (5:35) Daylight (6:14) Canon in D (6:31)
Pirates of the Caribbean (6:57) Rock 'n' Roll Part 2 [a.k.a. The "Hey" Song] (7:19)
That really is quite a crazy amount of effort. I'm not saying this was necessarily shot all in one take, and when you break it down it's simple to do, but the scale is what impresses me.
There's a Tumblr Devoted To Girls Licking Doorknobs? Of course there is.
Welcome to the future.
Unfortunately for me I can never endorse Lobster Lovin' ever since I came across a particularly unfortunate urban legend, but this video by first year student Kristen Berry is kind of cute.
Still a touch disturbing though.
"I know my wife has this "AP Mobile" news app on her phone and receives text message alerts whenever something big is happening around the world, I decided to play a little prank on her.
This morning I changed my name in her contact list to "AP Mobile" and sent her a short and sweet message and waited for her to turn her phone on. Her mouth almost came down to the floor."
Make sure you watch through to the end for the reveal.
I've never seen this show before, but their youtube channel at least has me wanting to click "just one more clip" over and over...
I think what I love most about the internet is the ability to come across something, not understand at all what inspired someone to create it, and yet still appreciate it on some level that you may not even understand.
I think Girls Making Gun Sounds qualifies pretty well... I have no idea what's so endearing about this, but there's something that keeps me clicking the next one. Is this real life? Am I brain damaged? These are big questions.
This comes at a time in my life when I'd rather not be thinking about poop, but I share this anyway, for you. For yooooou!
I think it may even have replaced this Hate By Numbers video.
Okay so these kids are getting HUGE over the last couple of days, and I figure you've suffered enough if you checked out "My Jeans", consider this a cute-chaser to wash down the horror.
Okay fine I just didn't want us to be the only website that didn't show them.
I may be lactating right now.
Okay, so I've been holding out on you. I showed you Zack last month, but at the same time I discovered this amazing video... I admit, I just didn't think the world was ready.
Of course, some of you will demand compensation for your time. I guess they should click here to make it all better.
